Bob Stogner - Biographical Information
Professional Education and Licensure: I graduated with a B. A. degree in psychology from Asbury College, Wilmore, Kentucky and I have a Master of Social Work degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I completed a year of postgraduate work at the School of Social Work in Mental Health Consultation, Education and Prevention in addition to taking classes in the Marriage and Family Studies program at UNC Greensboro. I attended the Summer Training Program in Family Therapy at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. I am a clinical member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and a North Carolina Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Theological Education: In College and in my continuing education I have taken theology courses. I have been involved in a variety of conferences and retreats dealing with the integration of spiritual and emotional issues, prayer and spiritual formation. I have been involved in most areas of church life and ministry, such as a youth leader, children and adult Sunday school teacher, administrative board member, prayer ministry and retreat leadership. I completed the studies and requirements for ordination and was ordained as a minister in the Wesleyan Church in July of 2001. Professional Experience: In 1988 I came to the Christian Counseling Center as director and counselor. In July, 2009 I became a full time counselor. My 41 years of experience in working with individuals and families includes Child Welfare, Juvenile Court, foster care, group home, residential care, day care, Hospice and private practice. I have developed and led a variety of leadership training and enrichment events in the areas of family life, spiritual growth, pastor support groups, parent education and family ministries. Along with publishing articles in church magazines, I edited “Happy Growing,” a family enrichment newsletter for ten years. At the center I do family and marital therapy and work with individuals with issues such as anxiety, anger, life traumas, depression, grief, chronic medical problems and spiritual concerns. Family: I was raised and continue to live in Burlington, North Carolina. I am married and have three adult children. |
